Preventive Services
Even with all the amazing advances in restorative dentistry, there is still no perfect substitute for healthy, natural teeth. Keeping this in mind, our primary objective is to protect and preserve the health of your natural smile. Routine services like dental exams and cleanings can go a long way toward helping you keep your smile whole and healthy now and far into the future.
At Arcadia Dentaldontics, we offer preventive services that help you achieve your goal of a healthy, functional, and beautiful smile. By getting to know you and your family, we can create a treatment plan that is tailored to fit your needs and goals for a smile that is both beautiful and healthy.
Preventive Treatments Promote Oral Health
The most important basic preventive services we provide are regular exams and dental cleanings. Combined with other preventive treatments, these are the best tools we have for preventing the development of serious dental problems like periodontal disease.
Semi-Annual Dental Exams
For most patients, we recommend dental checkups twice a year. After evaluating the state of your oral health we may recommend more frequent visits. Regular dental exams allow us to visually inspect your teeth for problems that may be developing, like the onset of gum disease and tooth decay.
Our state-of-the-art technology provides us with the most detailed view of your teeth possible. Digital panoramic x-rays eliminate the need for multiple x-rays with uncomfortable traditional films. They allow us to see what’s happening deep inside your tooth so that we can identify problems and plan for future dental treatments.
Fluoride treatments are another effective tool for helping to maintain oral health. Most patients receive a sufficient amount of fluoride through food and water supplies. However, everyone has different needs, and routine exams help us decide if fluoride treatments are right for you and your family.
Sealants are another effective method for protecting your teeth from cavities. A very thin coating of plastic is used to seal the grooves on the chewing surface of your teeth, making them easier to clean and reducing the risk of decay.
Professional Dental Cleanings
Dental cleanings are usually recommended once every six months for a patient with no serious ongoing dental concerns. During a professional cleaning, our trained dental hygienist will evaluate and identify signs of inflammation and disease. We then develop a personalized treatment plan based on your dental needs.
During a routine cleaning, the hygienist carefully removes plaque and tartar buildup around your gum line. If not removed regularly with professional cleanings, plaque and tartar can lead to periodontal disease and further risks to your oral health.
Quality and Convenience
Our extended evening hours and Saturday appointments once a month make it easy to schedule your visits when it’s convenient for you. We accept most dental insurance companies and will be happy to help you get the most out of your benefits. Many insurance plans cover the cost of cleanings and exams, making it easy for you and your family to receive these important services.
Is it time for your next dental cleaning? We would love the opportunity to help you and your family achieve the healthiest smiles possible. Please call our Arcadia dental office, and we’ll be happy to arrange a convenient appointment.
Frequently Asked Questions
When you arrive at our office, you can expect to be greeted promptly by a member of our friendly team. Before you see the doctor, you will need to fill out some forms so we can get the important information we need to make sound decisions about your dental care.
If you don’t have current x-rays, we will take a new set of detailed digital images so we can see the exact condition of your teeth. Next, our doctor will perform a thorough visual exam and use this information to suggest an appropriate treatment plan. We may or may not do a dental cleaning since we don’t know what to anticipate until we understand the state of your oral health.
Throughout your first visit, we will ask you to share your concerns and goals for a healthy smile. Your treatment plan isn’t complete until we get to know a little bit about you and understand all your needs.
If you’re visiting us for an orthodontic consult, Dr. Whang will identify your needs, answer your questions, and make appropriate recommendations.
We know that after a few visits, you’ll see that we are a friendly team of professionals who have your best interest in mind. Please contact us today to make your first appointment at Arcadia Dentaldontics. We look forward to meeting you and your family!
